Core Services

Office Workplace Risk Assessment

Attention to ergonomics in computer-intensive offices can reduce discomfort, lower the risk of injury, and improve productivity. This risk assessment survey for groups, from company-wide to small-department, identifies workplace conditions, practices and organizational risk factors that contribute to ineffective work design and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD’s). In addition, our ergonomics professional analyzes injury and illness records and conducts employee discomfort surveys to spot trends and patterns that could be contributing to ergonomic problems. We then present a written report prioritizing ergonomic challenges with suggested measurable objectives for improvement.

Proactive Office Workstation Evaluation

Often small ergonomic changes, such as improvements in an employee’s computing techniques or the way an employee’s workstation is set up, can have a big impact on job performance, comfort and safety. In this proactive injury prevention evaluation process, an SEG professional identifies risk factors that could lead to an individual employee’s discomfort or potential work related musculoskeletal disorders. Recommended changes focus on creating a better fit between work tasks and employee capabilities. This evaluation is designed especially for employees who work with a computer for three or more hours every day.

Post-Injury Office Workstation Evaluation

Work-related musculoskeletal injuries (WRMSD’s) and discomfort associated with computer use are a major concern in office workplaces today. Following a reported injury or discomfort, this evaluation identifies ergonomic issues that may contribute to an injured employee’s specific symptoms or discomfort. In a written report to management (which you can also submit to your medical provider), our professional evaluator will recommend ergonomic changes in areas such as: furniture, seating, computer, equipment, work practices, keyboard or mouse technique, or work demands. This evaluation is specifically designed to reduce or eliminate risk factors that may be contributing to the employee’s injury or discomfort.

Advanced Services

Alternative Input Device Evaluation

Many employees cannot use a standard keyboard or mouse because of hand and wrist injuries or permanent disabilities. Others prefer alternative devices such as drawing pens, tablets, trackballs or keypads so they can avoid discomfort or injury, or simply find a better match for their needs. To help these employees, we offer a professional evaluation of alternative information input options. Our evaluator will work closely with your Computer Information System (CIS) department to ensure hardware and software compatibility, recommend appropriate input devices and follow up to help the employee use them correctly.

Multitask Office Workplace Evaluation

Many employees perform a range of work tasks, from computer data entry to handling boxes or records, delivering mail, traveling by car or moving electronic hardware for installation or repair. These employees face a greater range of ergonomic risks than those who usually perform only one type of task. In this evaluation, an ergonomics professional will assess these complex sets of risk factors, prioritize them according to severity and frequency, and recommend engineering, work practice and training solutions.

Task-Specific Chair Evaluation

A bewildering variety and number of "ergonomic" chairs are available today, with numerous adjustment features. As a result, finding the best chair option for an individual employee can be a daunting task. A trained ergonomics professional will help your employee make an appropriate, educated choice and use the selected chair correctly.
