Core Services

Industrial Workplace Risk Assessment

An ergonomically sound workplace—--one that minimizes the risk of injury—--is critical for employee safety, regulatory compliance, productivity, and a profitable bottom line. In this comprehensive, overview workplace risk assessment, an SEG professional identifies those workplace conditions, practices and organizational factors most likely to contribute to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD’s). We analyze injury and illness records to spot patterns and trends, conduct employees discomfort surveys, and make direct workplace observations to assess the current level of risk. We then present a written report prioritizing ergonomic challenges and suggest measurable objectives for improvement. This risk assessment is designed to provide managers with initial or periodic up-to-date risk assessment workplace data on which they can make informed decisions for corrective actions.

Industrial Workstation Evaluation

Reducing the risk of injury—--especially strains and sprains from poor workplace design or work methods—--is a top priority for managers of industrial workplaces. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD’s) can often be prevented with good ergonomic design, minimizing the chance of lost workdays and long-term disabilities, while improving productivity and quality. SEG professionals can help you identify existing ergonomic risks, recommend cost-effective solutions, and create a corrective action plan tailored to your workplace. This evaluation is suggested for manufacturing production and assembly, laboratory and physically intensive service operations.

Advanced Services

Industrial Workplace Design and Engineering Review

Engineering solutions provide the best means of solving ergonomic problems whenever feasible. Working with your facilities or process engineering group, SEG professionals help develop and implement practical solutions to ergonomic challenges. Our experience has helped many companies resolve a wide variety of issues related to manufacturing workstations, hand tools, materials handling operations and laboratory environments. We provide practical design and engineering assistance from retrofitting existing designs to developing and implementing new solutions.

Manual Materials Handling Workplace Evaluation

Materials handlers have a very high risk of strain and sprain injuries from overexertion, especially those who spend much of their time lifting and carrying heavy materials or pushing and pulling fully loaded carts. This evaluation is designed specifically for materials handling operations. Our professionals evaluate work-area layouts, workstations and work practices, and recommend corrective actions to reduce the likelihood of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSD’s). This evaluation is suggested for physically intensive operations such as shipping and receiving, mailrooms and materials distribution, warehouses, stockrooms and storage, and facilities maintenance and support.
